Wow, how time flys.
I created this blog to keep memories and stories of when we got pregnant and of our new life with Blayke. As you can see its been almost a year since I blogged...holy cow! It's funny how the last post was Blaykes first Easter...and Easter is next weekend. Haha
There really is no point in trying to catch up the last year.its been so amazing words can't describe. Blayke has been a wonderful blessing in our lives.
Her 1st birthday is next week and it makes me so sad....I just know I will cry on her birthday ha. I'm so excited to celebrate it though..."itsy bitsy spider" theme for her birthday, it's her fav song :)
Well hopefully I can find time to blog more :)

Easter 2011
Blaykes first Easter.
We were unsure if we were going to be able to go to Easter church service with Blayke only being almost 3 weeks old...but we decided to try. We got Blayke all dressed up in her Easter outfit. She looked so cute but as you can tell from the picture....she wasn't too happy with all this dress up business, ha.
I was nervous about how she was going to be at church. Given...she is almost 3 weeks old and all she does is sleep...you would think she would have done great. Well...of course church was packed and luckily we were able to find a seat upstairs. The second the whole church gets quite and they start praying....there a Blayke goes and starts screaming..ha. But we stepped out for a minute and then she was all cozy with momma holding her.
After church we went to Marble Slab with Blaykes bestie Briana :) I already know this ill be a regular outing for us.

Just me and Blayke...
I think it was like April 14th when Adam went back to work and my mom left the night before to go home and come back on the weekend. It was the first full day I would have Blayke all by myself and no helpers. I would say it was a success but it sure was a lot harder having to do everything by myself. This was the start of my 4 months of maternity leave. We did a lot of sleeping...I actually would sleep when she slept - like everyone tells you to do, ha.
First day of us home alone :)
..no more nurses, its just us now
I wasnt quite sure if I was "ready" to go home...of course I was ready to BE home...just not sure if I was ready to have no more nurses ha. I remember walking through the front door, my mom videoing (of course...she kinda is turning into Dan, ha) and the dogs going nuts to see us! The puppies werent too sure about the new thing - Blayke - we had with us. Zoe of course is so lala...she didnt really care, but Maggie...oh boy! she knew her momma had replaced her - poor MooMoo.
The first night was for sure scary. I never thought I would be so nervous, but your thoughts, fears, and feelings sure do change when its your own child. Our bedroom and bathroom turned into everything baby, ha....well so did the rest of the house. We had Blayke in the basinet right next to my side of the bed. Since Blayke was a little jaundice, I had to make sure to feed her evey 2 hours, even at night. It felt so good to be in my own bed but I had a fear of not being able to hear Blayke and not wake up...buttttt that wasnt the case at all. I think I woke up like 10seconds before her everytime. I sure didnt feel like I got much sleep.
We had to get up early the next morning and go see Blaykes pediatrician to check her jaundice levels. I would say we did pretty good our first night being home and getting up in the morning.
At the appointment, Blayke had to get her heals pricked for blood. I think Adam was about to pass out when the nurse told him to hold Blayke. He looked at me and said I aint holding her while you make her scream...so of course, tough ol momma had to do it. Adam just looked the other way and was a big chicken. The funny part is, is Blayke didnt even nudge one bit while the poked and squeezed for the blood...tough like her mommy :) The test results showed that her levels went up a few points so since it was Friday, they told us to let Blayke get a lot of time by the window and come back Monday for more blood work. Monday was a different story when Blayke had to get her heals poked...it was horrible! Adam and I both cried because Blayke was screaming bloody murder...ohhhh! break my heart! it was horrible.

Blayke sure was yellow
Laying in her bed enjoying the sunlight
...I guess Adam had jaundice too. ha. jk
Eventhough the nurses were gone...my mom came and stayed with us for quite a good bit and she was the great "nurse" I needed. I was so glad to have family come and stay with us. I am so thankful for all the help we received from everyone!!

Going Home
Thursday, April 7.
I had gotten discharged in the morning and due to Blayke being jaundice, we had to wait till her testing after 4pm to see if she was going to get to come home as well. All day I was so upset wondering if Blayke was going to have to stay while I went home....I cried quite a bit, ha. Luckily her points went down and about 4:30pm the nurse came in to cut off Blaykes security anklet and we were ready to hit reality.

Time to get Blayke all dressed up and go home.
Thanks LiLi for helping
Of course she had to have a bow. It was so big on her lil 'ol head.
Here we go! (excuse me "prettiness" ha)
Daddy strapping her in car seat for first time
She looked soooo small in there.
Of course MiMi was filming...I need to find video and post it, its funny.
Lets roll!
All cozy! Blayke did great in the car...Adam has never driven better...and I cried the whole way home, but only tears of joy. I just couldnt believe my prayers were answered and I finally had my own little family.
